It's not the age, and not whether you are male or female ... It is important to a lot of skill and a lot of practice.

Good read. Although I am not a huge fan of playing baseball, I always wished I could throw a curve or knuckle ball.

It's good to see her entering a league that for so long has been one associated only with men. Of course, the pressure and scrutiny will be more intense, but by being brought in, she's also helping to open the door to other kids who might want to give that sport and league a go.

Hoyt Wilhelm. Eddie Fisher. Wilbut Wood. The list goes on and on. Did you know the only home run that Phil Kiekro ever hit was off his brother Joe's knuckleball?

Knuckle baller can pitch like every other day with short rest, which allows Wakefield become an efficient reliever and emergency starter.

There was this guy on my team last year who threw a real good curveball. We were all like "wow - that thing moves!". His Dad was all hanging out behind the cage lauging at us during batting practice because we couldn't keep up with this thing. My Dad was all like "hey - buddy, why don't you be quiet and let the kid!" It didn't help much, I still can't hit that curveball of his.
